Ira's Legacy Lives on: The 80 year history of Weaver Popcorn
![]() |
In 1928 Reverend Ira E. Weaver began his business by shucking, bagging, and delivering his own carefully grown popcorn. His hope was to develop a brand of popcorn that not only TASTES GREAT and is of the HIGHEST QUALITY, but COSTS LESS. |
Ira's business thrived. Even in the face of the Great Depression, people
were willing to spend a few cents on a bag or two of Ira Weaver's fresh,
great tasting popcorn. Then, as now, popcorn was considered a special,
affordable treat for kids and grownups alike.
Today, Pop WeaverŪ Popcorn is a leading national brand of microwave
popcorn in the United States and is distributed to more than 90
countries worldwide including those in Europe, Russia, and South
East Asia. Ira's horse drawn wagon has become a fleet of vans,
trucks, and tankers delivering our popcorn to the right places
at the right time all over the world. Ira Weaver's hard work and
attention to detail has kept this still family-owned business
striving for nearly 80 years.
Reverend Weaver's legacy still drives the company. In fact, his grandchildren
and great-grandchildren carry on the legacy, and they believe in quality
and customer satisfaction just as much as Ira Weaver did. No sale is
complete if the customer isn't satisfied, whether down the street or
half way around the world. Just the way Ira would have wanted it.
